About this project

China Leadership Foreign Exchanges DB v1.0 is an independent research database of publicly disclosed official foreign-exchange events involving the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) and People's Republic of China (PRC) top leadership.

Scope

The database covers 27 registered leadership figures across 43 official roles, spanning the 18th, 19th, and 20th Party Congress periods (2012-11-16 to 2026-06-16). It includes 2,828 verified foreign-exchange events.

Method

Every event is verified by five axes — source, date, principal, official role at the time of the event, and counterpart — against article-level URLs on twelve registered PRC-side official source families. See Method for detail.

Status

The database is complete as of v1.0 (snapshot window closed 2026-06-16). It is currently under controlled access while companion academic manuscripts complete submission.

Independence

The project is independent of any government, party, or institutional body. The dataset describes the publicly enacted face of Chinese leadership diplomacy; it does not endorse, advocate, or editorialise.

Authorship

The dataset is single-authored. Two companion academic papers — a dataset / methodology paper and an empirical analysis paper — are in preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
